To celebrate Viennetta’s 25th Birthday, they teamed up with another iconic family favourite – All Star Family Fortunes. Umbrella worked with Unilever on their on-pack instant win promotion, giving away cash prizes totaling £100,000. This was to run in the same period that Family Fortunes was on-air.
The mechanics…
1.2 million packs of Viennetta (the popular Mint and Vanilla variants) ran the ‘Family Fortunes’ promotion. Consumers had the chance to win prizes of £100 or £1000 by simply revealing a winning message inside the pack. If the consumer found a winning message they mailed in the promotional packaging with their name, address and telephone number. Once validated, a cheque was despatched within 28 days.
There was lots of support surrounding this campaign. Once the new series of All Star Family Fortunes hit the screens in October, advertising was placed in the TV listing pages and other press titles. There was also a dedicated PR campaign.
